Description

At first glance — simplicity.
But in every curve of this chawan lives the breath of Japanese earth.

Katakuchi (片口)— a spouted form designed for easy pouring and graceful movement in your tea ritual.
Kohiki (コヒキ色) — a soft, milky-white glaze inspired by the Momoyama era,
meant to calm the darkness and make the light visible.

Handcrafted by a Japanese artisan.
The clay — warm, grounded, quietly powerful.
The glaze — subtly undulating, like a drifting cloud.
Perfect for tea ceremony or a quiet morning moment.

Each chawan is unique.
Slightly asymmetrical.
Made not by machines — but with heart.

Sip slowly. Feel deeply. This is the way.

🍃 About the Artist

Kiyohide Yokoi –   Ichii Kiln, Mino ware (Gifu Prefecture, Japan)

In a world overflowing with mass-produced plastic and metalware, pottery may seem fragile, even irrational.

Yet it is precisely this quiet imperfection that awakens something human in us —

a sense of gentleness, care, and appreciation.

Each day, I shape clay with my own hands,

hoping that these vessels will bring calm and comfort to others,

and be cherished for generations.

・Born in 1955 (Showa 30)

・Apprenticed under Yasumasa Sadowayama

・Successor of Ichiigama kiln

・Exhibited widely across Japan in solo and group shows

Care Guide

To preserve the beauty and life of your handcrafted chawan, please follow these simple steps:

Before Use:

Never use it dry.

Before each use, immerse the bowl in warm water to allow the clay to absorb moisture.

This helps prevent staining, dark marks, or mold.

After Use:

Gently hand-wash only.

Avoid detergents and dishwashers.

Rinse well and let dry completely before storing.

These pieces are handmade with great care and soul.

By treating them gently, you let them become more than just tools —

you let them become part of your daily ritual.
